Update Bayonetta Walkthrough Is Here

This is where Bayonetta will really come into its own, since Normal is the highest setting available when playing through for the first time. Newcomers to the genre are offered a tittle assistance with the two levels below this but, frustratingly, these are stuck on Automatic mode where combos just come out randomly as you furiously spam buttons. In our experience, this actually makes things harder, the game locking you into moves you don’t want to be doing long after the enemy is elsewhere, although the massive difference in the amount of damage you both inflict and take compared to the higher difficulties makes it undeniably far easier all the same.

Witch Time itself is a useful mechanic indeed — slink around an incoming blow at the last minute and all grows purple as time slows to a near halt. This gives you a chance to lay on silly combos and even launch bigger enemies, all the while enjoying a healthy damage boost and immunity to further hits for a short white. Later in the game, though, Platinum does some pretty clever things to prevent this mechanic from being abused. Certain sequences take place in a permanent state of Witch Time, a fully charged B attack will empty most rooms. When the moon is full, a blue circle around Bayonetta indicates that she an run up walls and ceilings. This only occurs at scripted moments, but it’s still great. Angelic weapons can be picked up and used, but only for a short period before breaking. The payoff is their insane power!
