Command & Conquer 4 is supposedly the last installment of the Tiberium saga, but you would have to be more naive than the Trojan doorman wheeling in the horse to think this really means the end of C&C. One thing in the game does happen which suggests an end to the last 15 years (and 70 in-game years) of conflict between the GDI and the Brotherhood of Nod, and another thing is said which implies Kane is something more than human, but that's how C&C usually ends. The two best solutions to getting through the main campaigns is to either play co-op to have the help you need which really is quite different and you now can support each other, or you can alternatively choose to play skirmishes and multiplayer matches to level up. However, there's a world of difference between the co-op that you will find in C&C 4 and the kind that was included in Red Alert 3's campaign. With RA3, even though the campaign was designed around cooperative play, it felt like a choice. With C&C 4, the class and unit restriction settings they put in place make it feel almost like a necessity. We were able to battle our way through and beat the campaign, but mostly we felt like we were playing with too much restriction to make it enjoyable. This issue speaks to both the game's greatest strength and weakness. C&C 4 is essentially designed to be a multiplayer game, so the solo experience suffers greatly from it. Practically everything about C&C 4 is there to drive players toward playing together, including having to log into the EA servers, a persistent online identity, and the chat lobby that's present in main menu.
