It's been a long time that our system has been working on those famous 2-D fighting action yet over the top games that include those characters of the Guilty Gear series. This time with BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger they have come up with an entirely new game.
A more advanced combat system, new characters that just multiplies the originals basics. In this version 12 characters begin flight, but that is less than previous versions. There's also a smaller number than most conventional games. However the characters designed are all quite different from each other and of course you also get the included insane characters which we've all comes love. While you might have trouble understanding some of the ridiculous crew as well as the increased number of combo moves like drive attacks and the board lead to Guard Libra, there is absolutely an incredible amount of gameplay to be had off-line. This has in addition an excellent online mode as well. The learning curve is pretty high but it's still a game worth playing which says a lot.
Like previous versions this game is a fast-paced 2-D fighting game with multiple combo moves as previously mentioned as well as three or four standard attacks. Each of these attacks has a varying amount of strength while the last attack is the drive attack which creates a different result for each character. For example, Jins drive attack freezes enemies solid; Ragna's steals health from his opponents with each attack. So each character has his own unique style of gameplay, but alas they also included previous game characters from their other game versions. How begins with agonist, the spiky haired sword wielding bad boy takes cues from the spiky haired, sword wielding bad boy Sol bad guy. In addition there is a big strong grappler who can run character in iron Tager, who is similar to guilty gears Potemkin. The game also includes a grinning hooded cat girl with gigantic cause a horrible vampire child who cost is what the commission shaped bats that explode him and a mass blob that loses its way into battle.
The didn't want the characters to look too similar to previous versions but the designers obviously went through a bit of a struggle doing some, but the main thing is that the characters play differently from each other. So these changes make the game appeared to the new with the distinctive changes for each character but it makes the skills more difficult to learn when switching from one person to another. This is especially true if you used to more conventional fighting games like Street fighter.
Regardless if you're a fan of the series, or maybe you just like sci-fi or anime cartoons for those really bizarre personalities, this game is just for you. Most of the fighting design structure is made for folks that are used in the original game, except this one has a faster better and proved fighting system. Just like in previous versions you can link together at your combination moves creating a multiple attack, things that do stuff like juggler tags that repel your opponents into the air, or dashboard and backwards on the ground and in the air. As mentioned there is quite a bash for writing out strategic moves making the game more replayable and challenging. Some of the moves for the characters give them a strong defense, but mostly the main core of the moves are for a strong offense.
Since this game favors a good offense to advance so with the usual linked combination moves like sets of normal and/or revolving action which they call them) and additional air swishing along with the defensive block (called guard libra), will result in a longer block on defensive attacks based on how well you string together your previous moves.
Like I said before there are some odd characters I mean really really weird characters.
In addition there are also several defensive attack setups which are all based on previous versions and the mechanics are also quite similar. For example the ability to use a well-timed offense to reduce the amount time your character stays in blocking animation, known as instant guard, and active defense system, known as barrier, and the defensive counterattack will let you handle the situation to your advantage.
So BlazBlue is an excellent game. The very large and accurately animated cast play in a very colorful and stylish set of stages with all the bells and whistles you could ever ask for. The soundtrack has a rock guitar sound and during battle both players are usually jumping around yelling out the names of their mighty fighting styles while the game announcer calls out this access will maneuver and counterattacks. If a match happens to get too close or intense between two of the characters, particularly with the flashy style moving, there's so much noise and bright flashes and mumbo-jumbo on the screen that things start to get a bit confusing, particularly with those who've never played the game for those who aren't already fighting game experts.
But I'd like to point out that this game doesn't require a very long learning curve before you get the hang of it. The single player story mode has enough for any new player who's never seen the series before to enjoy. Their several ways the game can go based on who you unlock and will you contend with. There is also an arcade score attack versus training mode with an unlock gallery. You also have the option of a replay in save mode so that you can replay and what off-line and online matches including the battles on the leader boards which you can bother watching for your entertainment, or observe with watchful eyes did get better.
As mentioned before the online multiplayer is extremely strong. It makes it easy to get to the next rank of players, and you can always play anyone that is unranked. The lobby uses an icon-based interface so you can find other players you wish to challenge that are a good match, with a good ping rate. The actual online servers are an overload at the time of this writing, several hundreds if not thousands of competitors are waiting your challenge, then you'll probably extremes little to no lag.
So in a nutshell BlazBlue is an odd, colorful, and imaginative game. The absolutely the eccentric characters and the gameplay itself should give you hours and hours of entertainment. This title is absolutely a must-have for anyone interested in the 2-D fighting genre.
