Console makers Microsoft and Sony (presumably Nintendo too?) are attempting to woo the developer into crafting the game for their respective next-generation consoles, but Blizzard are holding out at this point. A version of WoW for consoles would surely be a hit, and would be amply catered for by both the power and connectivity of the forthcoming machines. Blizzard seem happy at this juncture however to consolidate their position, according to a new interview for CCN Online's 'Money' channel.
"While there is an interest [from platform holders] and while that sounds cool to us, we're not going down that road at this time," commented Paul Sams, vice president of business operations at Blizzard, hinting at the eagerness of the console giants to see WoW in the living room. Both major platform holders would love to see the MMO title exclusively there's, but Blizzard are well aware that they hold all the aces whilst their opus is taking over the genre. "Once we get to the point where we feel we've achieved best of class and it's sustainable... then we'll start contemplating those types of things," Sams explained.
Indeed, with business necessity likely to grow increasingly pressing as times goes on - it seems that World of Warcraft for at least one next-generation console is a case of when, not if.
