GAME GUIDE LOCATED HERE: http://www.wonderdogsoftware.com/GUIDES_9/FIRERD.htm
Strategy RPGs like Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn seem to have a rough lot in the life of video game conventions. Very few people populated the game's two demo stations, perhaps due to time constraints or an inability to hear the game clearly over the noise on the show floor, but this allowed me to have an extended play session with the title.
Radiant Dawn begins shortly after GameCube Fire Emblem title, Path of Radiance. The demonstration only showcased brief glimpses at all of the game's major components (CG cut-scenes, static dialogue moments and battles), as well as introduced a few new characters who comprise the Dawn Brigade (more story details can be read here).
Fire Emblem fans will feel right at home with Radiant Dawn, as the game appears to hold closely to the groundwork of its predecessors. Although I have not personally spent much time with the series, I found the game easy to learn, partially thanks to the helpful intertwined tutorials.
Radiant Dawn sticks to the tried-and-true aspects of the series.
The demonstration exposed players to the basics of strategy, such as attacking directly and indirectly. Certain characters, such as those with swords, attack directly and thus have to stand in a square right next to an enemy in order to engage the foe. Other characters can attack indirectly (i.e. from a distance) using magic and other abilities.
