Our God of War Video Game Help and Walkthrough Guide By Paula Jean
I think we can all agree that God of War is among the best games released for PlayStation 2, so you can imagine how nervous I was slipping the God of War II disk into my PS2 for the first time. With such huge sandals to fill, how could God of War II possibly live up to the successes of its predecessor? The answer, my friends, is astonishing, because GoW II completely eclipses its forefather by adding even more of the stuff that we loved, namely: blood, puzzles, cinematic presentation and fifteen minute long combos.
Ghost of Sparta
The plot is key in God of War II, just as it was in the first game. Kratos has been stripped of his godhood for being a little too handson with the people of planet Earth (specifically, the warriors of his old hometown, Sparta). See, Zeus is kind of touchy when it comes to people (especially his subservient godlings) getting unruly or downright insubordinate, so Kratos brand of not giving a damn what Zeus has to say doesnt sit well with the mightiest of the Olympian Gods. So, when Kratos goes against the will of the gods to help out good ol Sparta, Zeus takes the opportunity to rob Kratos of his godly powers by trapping them within the Blade of Olympus.
Of course, this pisses Kratos off to no end.
But, lacking the ethereal might to take Zeus on his own, Kratos goes in search of help. Before he can even start, though, help finds him in the form of the ancient Titan called Gaia. For those of you unfamiliar with Greek mythology, the Titans were the parents of the Olympian Gods before Zeus went nuts and started killing them (or banishing or imprisoning them
he did lots of different things to them, none of which were very nice) because his dad, the Titan Chronos, ate all of Zeus brothers and sisters. Its a messed up family, to say the least.
Gaia is fed up with Zeus madness and domineering persona, so she decides to help Kratos defeat Zeus once and for all. In order to do this, Kratos has to hook up with the Sisters of Fate on their secluded island palace and convince the Sisters to turn back time so that he can sink a foot of the Blade of Olympus in Zeus belly. Dont think this is a diplomatic mission, however, because as you may already know, Kratos most potent arguments are made with Athenas Blades of Chaos (the twin daggers chained to his forearms).
Slash fiction
As in the previous iteration of God of War, God of War IIs combat is heavily rooted in combinations of slashes, aerial attacks and devastating finishers. Whirling like a cyclone of razor blades, Kratos is a nightmare to his enemies, but a dream to control. Though he was robbed of his godhood, Kratos gains some back during the course of his quest to bring down Zeus. He can earn additional weapons besides his trusty Blades, including a cruel Barbarian Hammer and the Spear of Destiny (each with their own set of upgrades and combo moves). Successful combinations reward Kratos by delivering extra orbs that can be used to upgrade his arsenal of godbusting weapons.
