Early last year we got our hands on Lost Planet for the 360, the game was everything we hoped it to be. The game had some solid if not spectacular reviews, but that didn't seem to hurt sales though.
As you can tell lot of effort has clearly gone into creating a story for Lost Planet, which takes place on an earth-like world covered in ice and snow, inhabited by humans and an alien species known as the Akrid. Unfortunately for the humans on the planet, Akrid are a species of deadly bugs of all shapes and sizes, but they do harvest and store precious thermal energy, which keep humans reasonably warm. It also is used to power giant mechanized suits known as Vital Suits, or, which humans use to defend themselves against the Akrid.
In the game you the player is cast as Wayne, young man who is suffering from amnesia from and attack by the Akrid known as Green Eye, who killed his father coma giving him amnesia. Wayne is then found in the snow plains by a small band of snow pirates, colonists left behind after the evacuation. Wanye quickly discovers a larger problem on the planet E.D.N. III, a mysterious group known as Nevec appear to have dangerous plans for the planet.
Thermel energy can be found by destroying storage tanks and vehicles which can provide Wanye with thermel energy. The problem is however that players frequently find so many environmental objects containing large sources of T-Eng that you don't always have to engage in battle. Which makes the game on the the harder levels really hard.
This all brings us to boss battles a majority of levels feature a boss at the end. The boss battles have you generally locked into an area with an Akrid or VS boss. The game has them sticking to and attack pattern while you try and spot it's weakness. This isn't too hard to do with the Akrid bosses because all you need to do is spot the yellow areas and picking your spots of attack. But with the VS bosses are much trickier, because it takes much hard to find a weak spot with the mech bosses.
Outside of the campaign the game also has online multiplayer experience for up to 16 players Elimination and Team Elimination modes. The most interest modes are the Post Grab and Fugitive Hunt modes, Post Grab is a Battlefield type mode that has each team with controlling the thermal posts on the map and Fugitive Hunt puts every player against a single player.
The PS3 game includes all the content found in the original Xbox 360 version and everything released as DLC, bringing the map count to an impressive 16 and giving you plenty of characters to choose from.
