Monolith Launches 'Name Your Fear' Contest
Because one F.E.A.R. sequel isn't enough.
Now that F.E.A.R. has worked its way from the PC to both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, it's about time to start talking followups. There's just a slight problem: Monolith Productions, developer of the original game, no longer has the rights to the F.E.A.R. name. IGN is reporting that F.E.A.R. publisher Vivendi has its own plans to extend the brand, leaving Monolith and its owner/publisher Warner Bros. Interactive with an unbranded sequel.

To remedy this curious situation, Monolith has launched the Name Your Fear contest, which tasks fans of the series (or anyone, really) with naming its sequel to F.E.A.R. The official website details the dilemma and offers a recap of the franchise back story, as well as naming tips (hint: obscenities and thirdparty trademarks are a nono).
Submissions will be accepted until June 22nd, at which point the folks at Monolith will trim the fat and select the three best suggestions. Fans will then be able to vote for their favorite title on the official website between July 23rd and 27th, with the final selection eventually gracing Monolith's sequel. Regardless of who wins, all three finalists will be flown out to Kirkland, Washington to tour Monolith HQ and have their name and likeness added to the final game.
