Can't get enough super sugar crisp...Unless I get to punch in on some video punks!!
Harvest Moon Innocent Life - Image 1 For those of you who are wondering what new movies and/or video game titles you can get, we're listing down the ones that should be released this week based on what the developers and publishers mentioned in the past. Unless some minor changes occur, this list is pretty much it for the week of May 13.

For North American PSP owners, you should be able to find the following titles at your regular retail chains:
Also, take note that movie Stomp the Yard, a film that stayed on the U.S. box office charts for two weeks, will also be available. Fans in Europe, on the other hand, should be able to get SBK 07: Superbike World Championship 07 as well as Harvest Moon.

If you want to know, your counterparts in Asia will be getting lone title Little Aid Portable.

God of War: Chains of Olympus - Kratos with shield - Image 1

After dishing out some gameplay-related details straight from God of War II game director Cory Balrog, we're now releasing some in-game screenshots featuring God of Badass, err, War directly from the video game's developer, Ready At Dawn (courtesy of PlayFrance).

As you can see from the game's image above, Kratos now carries a shield to make up for the loss of his dodge moves (PSP doesn't have a right analog stick for it remember?). We're also treated to a menacing screenie of a Cyclop baddie wielding a wooden club thingie (God of War has been known for its creative use of Mythological characters and weaponries). Lastly, we're given a glimpse of how sick the graphics for the PSP version will be, and as a God of War follower myself, I have to admit this is almost of PS2 quality.

Anyway, God of War: Chains of Olympus will follow Kratos' dark path right after Ares chained him with the Blades of Chaos. As a soldier of Ares, Kratos is forced to do his bidding which usually had him waging the former God of War's battles. It should also give us a better grasp of the old Spartan general's struggles under the command of Ares, as well as how he coped up with the loss of his soul (it should be remembered that he asked Ares to make him a great warrior in exchange for his soul).

God of War: Chains of Olympus should hit video games' store shelves come November. That's pretty short in video gaming timetables (provided there are no delays), so we should be able to see the Ghost of Sparta combo'ing with his Blades of Chaos inside our PSPs in no time.

PSP - Image 1What is the PRX Launcher v0.4 for all 3.XX OE? It's Team XK's contribution to the homebrew community which is a plugin which can launch an eboot from an icon, that's what!

But unlike the previous releases, you will find that there have been some new stuff added or tweaked (duh, that's why it's a new version). So, in this file, there are 5 prx identified as (deep breath) HBx.prx (x=1 .. 5). Each HBx launch ms0:/PSP/SYSTEM/HBx/EBOOT.PBP.

theketchupman explains that it's been put in the System folder because you won't see the file in the Game menu on vsh. Now, for you to get it running, you'll have to rename the hbx into a plugin name, and then flash it to your PSP. If you think you need more of them prx, then hexedit the path of the HB to launch.

As for the important things you need to know, there are three:
  • not capable of launching kxploit homebrew (you'll need to use 1.00 hb)
  • no compatibility issues with SCEP
  • some hb (like snesxstyl) may have problems -- but only a few
And then there are those danged bugs. He says that "It seems you can't launch any Eboot that uses/modifies the flash (liek PSPFiler for example); it's because we can't get this PRX to work in kernel mode under 3.40 OE..."

So, to sum it up, the PRX Launcher v0.4 is now working on 3.30 and 3.40 OE, and although it's only been tested on 3.40 OE, it should work nicely with 3.30 OE.

Got it? Good. Now pick it up and thank theketchupman over at our forums.

Soon you'll be playing too... - Image 1Okay, so a lot of you Squeenix Heads have been asking, "Is it getting here? When will it get here? Is there a launch window? Will it be released in the US at all? We want to play it too!"

Relax folks. Square Enix has announced release windows for several of their anticipated upcoming games, among which are Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion War, and Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings.

Below are the the games you wish you had, and the launch windows that come with the North American localizations:
  • Dragon Quest Monsters - Joker, NDS, Q4 2007
  • Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors, Wii, TBA (sorry, no window, but at least it's confirmed)
  • Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions, PSP, October 2007
  • Final Fantasy XIII: Revenant Wings, NDS, Winter 2007
The Lion War by Halloween, and Revenant Wings for by the Holidays... nice! Time to save up.

For those of you who aren't fans of Square Enix games, take note anyway. At least you'll know when they're coming out, if ever you get curious and you want to try to test one or something.

Hurray for more sold PSPs - Image 1

"Increased productivity!" sounds like a battle cry many salarymen can live with. Thankfully, it's also the battle cry of Sony's UK execs, who are seeing more PSPs sold in the UK as a result of their recent price cut.

Since taking £ 20 off, the PSP's price, there's been a resurgence in PSP buying, with a 60% increase in sales during the opening weekend. Accordingly, Sony's expecting the good fortune to keep on coming with the increase of PlayStation Portable units sold, especially with the arrival of new video games into the European market.

Said Andrew Howsen, Sony's sales director, of the recent turnaround, "The price realignment was about passing on manufacturing cost savings to customers. This new price point opens up a new wave of consumers to the PSP experience." As long as the good games keep on coming, let the good times roll.

Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron - Image 1

The last time we posted news on LucasArts' PSP exclusive, Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron, there was this huge ruckus as to the prospects of having it on Sony's handhelds. And we perfectly understand why this installment would cause such excitement.

Renegade Squadron presents the story of "the rogues and scoundrels assembled by Han Solo". The big news about Renegade Squadron is that this is the first time that Star Wars Battlefront can be enjoyed by gamers with online competition on a handheld. Apart from that, you'll see some vast improvements from the previous Battlefront titles, such as the incorporation of the customization options in place of the class system.

Anyhow, to keep your excitement in check, we have some more new screenshots for you to ogle at. Just keep it posted here for more details on Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron. We'll be sure to keep you tabbed on it.

Metal Gear Solid is for friends! - Image 1

Thanks to a tip from Darknight88, we found out that there was another way for people to get their Solid Snake shenanigans on the PlayStation Portable (PSP).

He tipped us off to a free multiplayer demo of Konami's Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, which people can download and play. The game works on ad-hoc multiplayer only, so it'll be handy for you to have a couple of friends with PSPs who want to go try out the game with you. Otherwise, you're out of luck.

More importantly, the link that Darknight88 led us to has two different versions of the game: one for firmware 3.00 users, and another for 3.40 users. As always, your mileage will probably vary depending on which file you grab and whether or not you're using custom firmware, so leave a comment below if the game works for you. Enjoy!

Video Preview: PSPDiag Tool 0.1

Posted May 14, 2007 at 02:42AM by Mabie A. Listed in: Homebrew Development, Videos Tags: Sony
This is KIWIDOGGIE's PSPDiag Tool 0.1. What's a Diag Tool? It's simply short for PSP Diagnostics Tool Version 1. He basically didn't say much about this latest application of his for 1.50/1.00/OEX. But what he did say are the following:
  • CPU Speed
  • Bus Speed
  • Power Switch (lock or unlocked)
  • Volts Flowing
  • Temp Of Battery
  • On Charge
  • Low Battery
  • Wlan Switch (on off}
  • Wlan Power
Apparently, those are the stuff that can be read - er, "diagnosed" - currently by this version. But he reassures that he'll be updating this application such as the option to scan flash0 for certain files that may cause brickage (ie. gameboot, 1-12 bmp). So just keep it posted here for more of those.

In the meantime, as there is no download file available just yet, why don't you check out the preview vid first for KIWIDOGGIE's PSPDiag Tool 0.1? And while you're at it, join the discussion thread at our forums, why don't you?
