Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition Walkthrough Video Game Strategy Guide (Wii)
Also On: GC
Per GameInformer magazine, though it was only revealed a few days ago, Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition has garnered a lot of attention from fans in doubt that is to say, a lot of bickering. Well, we were able to grab a Remote at a Capcom press event yesterday to try this somewhat controversial version in a nearfinal state. We came away satisfied, but not necessarily drooling. Other great new video game walk throughs and strategy game guides available from WONDERDOG Much like with Zelda: Twilight Princess, the Wii version of RE4 first comes off as odd with the Wii Remote control scheme, but ends up feeling rather competent once you put a bit of time in. Walking and running is handled by the Nunchuck, and aiming/firing is done with the Remote. Hold down the B trigger and Leon will hold up his gun. Then you simply move the onscreen crosshairs with the Remote (and in case you cant tell from the trailer, the "laser sight" from the original RE4 is gone, replaced with easiertosee crosshairs). It was remarkably easy for us to adjust to the game, and before long we were hopping fences and dodging chainsaw men as effortlessly as before.
The Remote is also used to swing Leons knife for closequarters situations simply hold the C button and swing; Leon will do the same, though players can change the knife control to a simple button press if need be. Reloading is performed by holding the B trigger and jerking the Wii Remote, which we found more accessible than reloading in the Umbrella Chronicles demo station a few steps away. Theres no visual difference between the Wii and GameCube versions of RE4. However, the Wii version does support full widescreen and, naturally, 480p resolution. To some folks, thats a big deal (and we dont mind it, either). The game will also include the extra content from the PS2 version, which includes the "Assignment Ada" side story. No word on if that will receive a visual upgrade from the PS2, but wed almost bet on it since it shares much of the main games art assets. But other than that, yes, this is the same Resident Evil 4 you played more than two years ago. Capcom will be releasing RE4 for Wii for $29.99 at the end of June, so its not a terrible deal for the price especially if you havent tried out the extras of the PS2 version.
