The Incredible Hulk takes key points from the upcoming movie, and expands on things by adding in a number of new storyline elements. In this game, Banner's alter ego doesn't just face off against the Army or his arch nemesis Abomination (coincidentally, the main villain in Ultimate Destruction), but this time around, Banner is also facing off against Marvel supervillains such as the evil scientific brain trust known as the Enclave, the two-faces android Bi-Beast, and the infamous U-Foes.
Admittedly, Incredible Hulk seems to walk a fine line between being a "tribute to" and a "ripoff of" Ultimate Destruction. Essentially, it looks like the folks at Edge of Reality decided to follow the "if it ain't broke" school of thought, and tried to improve on the Ultimate Destruction formula, rather than risk trying something new. For starters, after the obligatory tutorial stage set in Brazil, the entirety of the game takes place in a scale version of New York City. Players will see all sorts of recognizable landmarks, such as the Empire State Building and the Apollo Theater, as well as fictional Marvel landmarks like Dr. Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum and the offices of the Daily Bugle. What makes this more interesting is that players can stand in awe of these classic structures … then they're encouraged to play a one man wrecking crew and reduce them to rubble.
