WonderdogSoftware.Com - The latest updated Video Game Walkthrough; Game Guide Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas Video Game Walkthrough (Rainbow Six Walkthrough Strategy Guide PS3) Also On: 360
Release Date:06/26/2007 ESRB Rating: Mature Genre: Shooter Publisher: Ubisoft Developer: Ubi Soft Montreal
Rainbow Six: Vegas delivered on most fronts when it hit Xbox 360 last year. And due to what has become standard procedure with any port that goes over to PS3, we've come to expect extras to show up in the package to make up for having us wait. So what's new? There will be five new multiplayer maps on PS3, along with the 10 original ones that come with the PC and Xbox 360 versions and the five maps that just went up on Xbox Live a few weeks ago, bringing the grand total to 20 multiplayer maps. That sounds like it should be more than enough to keep the PS3 online crowd happy.

In addition to the new maps, a new game mode, Terrorist Hunt, allows players to run around a map with no radar or hightech gadgets. It removes the tactical shooter aspect of R6 and the gameplay comes across feeling like that of a traditional FPS. In our preview version of the game, the A.I. doesn't seem that brilliant on these Terrorist Hunt maps, though. Example: Walking down an alley triggers four or five terrorists to run around a corner directly into our line of sight, inviting us to fill them full of lead.
The controls are sufficient on Sixaxis, but the absence of rumble is very noticeable if you played the 360 version. The only tilt sensor feature is a way to control your snake cam when you want to look behind a door, and you can turn the motion part of this off if you like. Graphically the PS3 version has the same issue as the 360 one, with frame rate stuttering in the same level locations (example: The opening level in Mexico when you step out of the chopper). However, we can see more buildings far off in the distance, where in the 360 version they are fogged over. But these buildings never play a necessary part in the gameplay, and the game's core is still intact. For those who haven't played Rainbow Six: Vegas, even though it's six months late, it looks like it'll be hard go wrong by adding this to your PS3 wishlist.
