| How
many consoles sold do you need to be crowned most popular
console in Europe? That number used to be PSOne's 39
million, but Sony's managed to raise the bar even further
to 40 million with PlayStation 2, the company announced
today. This milestone's occurs near the console's sixth
anniversary, a point at which PSOne had only moved just 33
million units (which ain't too shabby, either).
"We are extremely proud of the continuing success of PlayStation 2," said David Reeves, SCEE president and CEO, in the announcement release. "In the last month or so sales of PlayStation 2 throughout Europe and PAL territories has exceeded 100,000 units per week, which is extremely pleasing and proves the format is as popular now as it ever was." |
