New Starfox Game Coming via Diehard Fans If Namco couldn't make a good one, maybe they can. 01/16/2007 By David J Garfield Fan-designed projects based on existing IP have a nearly 100% death rate because of two reoccurring causes: it becomes too well-known or breaching upon an in-development concept and lawyers send a cease-and-decist letter or the people realize they have real lives, eventually become bored because they were too ambitious and the project fades into obscurity. Will that be a fate shared by the team behind Starfox: Shadows of Lylat (thanks, Digg)? They've promised a demo soon, so perhaps not. Starfox: Shadows of Lylat is a total conversion designed around the Freespace 2 engine. The folks behind the trailer that's attracted so much attention originally promised a demo by the start of the new year, but released an updated statement via their forums that the demo isn't ready yet and to not expect it until after January, to boot. That's not a good sign of things to come, but they're looking for additional help, so maybe they'll start pushing forward a bit faster -- unless Nintendo finds out and brings the axe.
