Neversoft Working on Guitar Hero Game Job posting suggests Activision's dividing up development. 01/17/2007 When Activision acquired Red Octane after the success of the original Guitar Hero, they indicated plans to expand the series by porting to other platforms and expanding the song catalog exponentially -- but how could a small company like Harmonix handle it all on their own? They won't be, apparently, as a job posting on Neversoft's (the company behind Tony Hawk's Pro Skater) website suggests they've been brought on to help with the series, too. The move isn't surprising, considering the hardest part about Guitar Hero is picking the music and developing creative button patterns, something easily handled internally by Harmonix and Red Octane. Having other companies handle the less creative aspect of programming the songs in seems appropriate, and appears to be the direction Activision's headed in with this recent revelation. Is Neversoft behind the recently revealed (but not officially acknowledged -- yet) Guitar Hero: 80's Edition or one of the rumored spin-offs using different instruments? Maybe. In any case, we'll should find out soon enough. Other WDS GUIDES: GRAND
