Hollywood: Castlevania Movie Progress Report Cameras yet to roll on Belmont clan's cinematic debut. 01/24/2007 The thought of a gaming franchise as beloved as Castlevania getting the Hollywood once-over is enough to create a cold stone of dread in even the most hardened of gamers' hearts, but director Paul W.S. Anderson does seem to be taking the project seriously. Anderson, who brought Mortal Kombat and Resident Evil to the silver screen, gave IGN an update on the state of vampiric affairs, explaining that his production company is busy scoping out locations in Transylvania and Hungary. The budget still has to be nailed down, but Anderson is hoping to have the money squared away in time for a fall or winter shoot, so there's snow on the ground for forest shots. Transylvania is a natural choice for a movie about Dracula, but that's not the only reason Anderson is psyched about filming there. "It was like discovering Mordor as a real location -- epic, dramatic, and above all scary," he said. Getting a little full of himself, Anderson went on to say, "These locations haven't been shot properly in a mainstream movie, so that is always extra exciting... to put something on camera that hasn't been seen before."
