Titan Quest: Immortal Throne (PC) Release Date:03/05/2007 ESRB Rating: Rating Pending Genre: RPG Publisher: THQ Developer: Iron Lore Entertainment One of last year's best PC RPGs, Titan Quest receives its expansion in a couple of days. Titan Quest: Immortal Throne starts right where players left off, and sends you on a journey through the Mediterranean and down into the depths of Hades, ending in Hades' very own Palace. The new areas are not the only additions made to this expansion. Many gripes players had in Titan Quest have been addressed in the expansion. Features like an inventory item sorting mechanism look to minimize any previous tedium felt by players. Dying will result in an experience point penalty, but you can seek out your gravestone to earn back some of your lost experience points. While you don't have to suffer the pains of retrieving your corpse and equipment, the game will still reward you for going back and avenging your previous death. Dream Mastery is now available as a secondary mastery class, which offers three different trance states (only one active at a time) which can enhance healing, or offensive abilities. A slew of new skills that stun or slow enemies are also made available through Dream Mastery. Using the Phantom Strike skill your character can turn invisible, enter a group of enemies, reappear and unleash an area a devastating area of effect attack. Artifacts, the new equipment class, are pretty rare, and can only be made from special formulas. After gathering the required items -- the rarer artifact formulas may even require other artifacts as reagents -- you can have an NPC craft the artifact for you, which will boost your skills, or even offer unique skills not available to any mastery class. Spell scrolls are also available through vendors, though they are quite expensive. The scrolls allow your character to do a variety of things, including summoning monsters as pets that previously were not available as pets. The final destination in Immortal Throne is Hades' Palace. As you venture into the depths of the palace, the hard barren rock surroundings begin to reveal Hades' prosperity. The walls begin to fill with crystals and decorations. Rather than create an underworld full of fire and brimstone, Hades is filled with eerie juxtapositions of greens, purples, and grays. Strangely swaying purple plants and floating jelly creatures are just a glimpse of what new and interesting things this expansion holds. Other WDS GUIDES: GRAND
