S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Patch Ends Up Breaking Saves To patch or not to patch, that is the question. 03/28/2007 The folks at Games for Windows have raved about the Deus Ex-like experience while playing through the long delayed S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl. They've been quick to defend the games' technical misgivings as no reason to miss out. Here's a problem: THQ and GSC Game World have released the first patch, and if you're having issues it would fix, are you willing to start the entire game over again? You better. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. fansite Oblivion Lost reports previous save games are not compatible when the patch is applied. The patch does fix 63 reported issues, in addition to a number of smaller problems that aren't specifically outlined in the patch details. Some gamers have reported limited issues while playing through the game, so the patch may be unnecessary to some, but if you're not one of them -- good luck making a decision.
